The potential of flexible screens has been staring us in the face for some time now. We know where we’d like to see the technology go bendable, foldable phones but with so many other components that would need to be just as malleable, it seems like a pipe dream. Progress is being made in that direction, but if you’d rather just forgo years of engineering and manufacturing developments and jump right to the results, designer Heyon You has one idea how such a device might turn out.
The Samsung Galaxy Skin, as this imaginary device has been dubbed, would be bendable but retain its shape, letting turn the elongated phone into an impromptu stand, wrap it around your wrist, or fold it in half to act as a clip or to make it more compact for carrying. We’re not too interested in the suggested specs of the Galaxy Skin, since we’ll be way beyond current chips by the time such a smartphone could become a reality, but some of the ideas, like an HD-capable pico-projector, sound pretty neat. Hey, we can dream, can’t we?
