Nokia recently demoed a Nokia N8 at Nokia World that was connected to a flatscreen TV, effectively turning the TV’s surface into something akin to Microsoft Surface. The demo uses a large HD TV, a Nokia N8, and an HDMI cable to connect the two. Along with the hardware, Nokia also used its proprietary Plug and Touch UI to make use of the phone’s camera, where the phone would sense where on the TV screen a user would be pointing or touching, emulating a large touchscreen interface. Because the set up is still in early prototype right now, there is a bit of lag, but it would make a very cool off-the-shelf solution to bring large touchscreens to the masses!
You can learn more about the concept from My Nokia Blog, where the picture and video was obtained from.
