Palm’s update for the Pre (and its Plus cousins) is expected to bring support for Adobe Flash 10.1 Mobile, which will be more closely related to the Flash plugin on the desktop, but in the meantime, the Motorola Devour will be hitting the market soon on Verizon Wireless with support for Flash Lite 3.1, which brings compatible with Flash 9 content. Flash Lite should work in the browser, though there’s no word if the plugin will also be compatible with the forthcoming Firefox browser for Android.
In an interesting twist, although the Devour uses the same Qualcomm chipset as the Palm Pixi, the Devour will at least get some form of Flash support whereas Palm is only allowing Flash 10.1 on the Pre, which has a stronger processor despite the same clock speed on all three handsets–the Palm Pre’s TI OMAP ARM-based processor is more powerful than the Qualcomm 600 MHz processor on the Pixi and Devour.
Adobe has also made commitments in the past in bringing Flash 10.1 Mobile to Android, which should bring greater Flash content compatibility beyond the Flash Lite 3.1 plugin that ships on the Devour.
