If unlimited data is on your list of needs while you currently decide to switch to Verizon, you better hurry. Following the comments of Verizon’s VP Nicola Palmer earlier this year where Unlimited data plans are regarded as “unsustainable for the industry”, Verizon spokeswoman Brenda Raney told AllThingsD today that the changes will happen in July.
Reports mention that the new tiered data plans that will be offered will rage:
$30 for 2GB of Data
$50 for 5GB of Data
$80 for 10GB of Data
Sadly the interview laid no details on what will happen to current customers that hold a $30 Unlimited data plan. It’s highly probable that Verizon will chose to respect current contracts until their next renewal and later impose the changes, but don’t hold your breath on that. If you’re interested, the smartest move is to act now. We’ll see what surprises arrive in July when Verizon lays all these changes in writing.
