Got kids? Well, add them to your family plan for no cost. Usually, additionally lines on a family plan will run for an extra $10 per month for the privilege of saving your loved one from going through the credit check process and getting their own account, but T-Mobile will be running a promotion called Kids are Free starting this fall where additional lines to the same account–making it a family plan–will carry no additional surcharges; everyone will share the same bucket of minutes and data plans are separate. A screenshot of the carrier’s system shows that the promotion will last until the New Year on 2012, at which point your freeloaders will cost you $5 per line, half of what it costs on most other carriers for additional lines on family plans.
There are, of course, always fine print to read through. The offer will be made available to new and current Even More and Even More Plus subscribers. Existing customers who want to take advantage of the promotion will have to call in to change to the promotional offering when it goes live, and Even More subscribers will have to re-up their contract to two years from the date of change. There will be taxes, early termination fees, and activation fees to each line added, and the plan will only be good on the 750 min, 1500 min, and 3000 min family plans. You don’t need kids for the offer to work, by the way.
And if T-Mobile happens to run another BOGO promotion at the same time as the Kids are Free promo, you can get your family set up with some slick smartphones in the process too. We’re really eyeing the T-Mobile G2 and its 4G-like HSPA+ data speeds on the carrier’s 3G AWS network.
