The Symbian Foundation has officially brought down its websites as expected due to its transition to a licensing body.

After the announced that CEO Lee M Williams will leave the company, initial news about the Foundation closing its doors surfaced. As of now, “the foundation’s public websites have closed, along with open access to the Symbian source code”. Whether a more closed development system will take its place is yet unknown but the once a non profit organization has turned into a licensing entity with no permanent staff. While its websites are down, the foundation’s data is available to the public via FTP until 31 March 2011.
