While our anticipation of Nokia World at the end of the month is largely motivated by the expected reveal of the company’s initial Windows Phone lineup, there’s going to be plenty else taking place. A new rumor suggests that the first day of the conference, October 26, might be used to introduce Symbian Belle updates for existing Anna phones.
Models like the 700 and 701 ship with Belle pre-installed, but any smartphone that initially shipped running Anna should be in the running for a Belle update of its own. That list includes models like the C7, E7, and N8.
We haven’t seen any pics or documentation that might back-up this claim, but the timing sounds right, with Belle formally announced in August, and the first devices arriving in September all that’s left are the updates to Anna models. Using Nokia World to do so also sounds like a smart move, making sure that Symbian users don’t feel left out as the company’s transition to Windows Phone 7 starts becoming all the more tangible.
