Paget Alves, Sprint’s president of Business Markets, told Forbes that the carrier’s “first 4G handset will launch in the first half of 2010.” Unfortunately, he didn’t mention which device or platform, but recent leaks point to an Android-based device from HTC as a high possibility. Of course, we’re speaking of the anticipated HTC Supersonic, a WiMax capable handset that runs Google’s Android.
The HTC Supersonic showed up last month on a leaked shot of Sprint’s internal systems as the HTC A9292. Soon after, leaked images started to appear from around the Net. It’s rumored to sport a massive 4.3″ screen and 1GHz Snapdragon processor, just like the HTC HD2. It also appears that the device will come with a kickstand similar to that of the HTC Imagio.
If the report is regarding the HTC Supersonic, Sprint’s customers can look forward to a launch that’s much sooner than many expected. It’s not a concrete date, but it certainly narrows it down to some degree. How does a 1H 2010 release sound to you guys?
