Does anyone remember the uber expensive Prada offering from LG a while back? What about the rumored windows mobile Samsung Armani? Well, looks like this time around, Sony Ericsson took the plunge and courted another famous fashion brand to the designer phone market. Presenting the Sony Ericsson Jalou limited edition Dolce & Gabbana phone. While this is by no means the first time the fabulous Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana have lent their name to mobile phones (D&G Motorola Razr) It is their first partnership with Sony Ericsson. The clamshell design phone will be a jewel-looking refashion of the normal Jalou. In addition to having its own patented rose colored tint (sparkling rose), genuine 24K gold accents, silk storage bags and a D&G headset, the fashion gods are “Dolceing” the heck out of this one with its own widgets, wallpapers, animations, etc. So what’s the big deal? Try telling that to us ladies!
Here are some tech specs: 3.2 megapixel camera, video recorder, music player, video recording, Quad band 3G, Bluetooth 2.0, direct pic/vid upload to social networking sites, FM radio, Internet, YouTube, Google maps, video calling, A-GPS, e-mail with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support, and an accelerometer among many other juicy features. Though the device sports Push email with Exchange and advanced hardware features, the Jalou is still not technically a “smartphone” and will not be running Windows Mobile.
In addition, the gem-like Jalou opens up to a screen that turns into a glassy mirror (handy for little makeup touchups, overall hair maintenance checkup and/or spying on that cute guy sitting behind you in the cafe). Most of us smartphone lovers would rather spend our money on other things, but never underestimate the unexplainable female need when it comes to ridiculousy expensive fancy stuff (like my Pricey Swarovski Crystal Case)! So while you boys try to get your hands on Brandon’s sick new Samsung Omnia II, you may want to consider scraping up and piling that change early on so you can afford the lady her new fashion phone come the holidays!
No word yet on pricing (most likely $1,000 or so) or official release date of the limited edition D&G but the normal Jalou (which comes in amethyst, aquamarine and onyx) is expected to hit the shelves (you got it!) around jinge-bell time! Oh Santa baby!
