Before we all eulogize Windows Mobile, let’s just be clear–the operating system isn’t going anywhere having shipped about 20 million handsets this year. In spite of all this success, there are some changes in the horizon. Digitimes is reporting that Microsoft will soon be rebranding Windows Mobile to just Windows Phone.
Windows Mobile has hone a long way since being called Palm PC when it first came out. After a trademark dispute with Palm over the name in Palm PC, Microsoft inaugurated the Pocket PC brand, which later became Windows Mobile.
