Shazam, the leading music recognition and discovery company, has announced its partnership with Spotify, the popular streaming music service.
According to the Press Release, Spotify will be available as integrated in Shazam’s free and premium applications for Apple’s iOS running iPhone and Google Android powered smartphones. There will be a “Play in Spotify” feature that will allow users to automatically play back the already recognized song inside the Spotify client.
Windows Phone 7 users might be familiar with this way as the Shazam client features a Zune button which will search for the recognized song which then can be played back, downloaded or even purchased using the Zune Pass.
Regardless of the existence Shazam for Windows Phone 7, at the moment, the Spotify partnership only refers to iPhones and Androids. Starting today, users of premium Apps Shazam Encore and (SHAZAM) RED will be able to tag unlimited songs and play them back in Spotify while users of the free version, with the five tag limit, will meet the feature in Q1 2011.
