If you’re a Canadian resident and haven’t taken advantage of Fido’s and Rogers’ generous smartphone data plan, which offers 6 GB of data per month for $30, you should sign up soon as the promotion is set to end on October 5. Originally slated as a short-term promotion through September 30th with the launch of the iPhone 4, the carriers are extending the rate plans through the 5th of October. With smartphones gaining increasing multimedia capabilities–such as high resolution pictures videos and pictures upload and download, and streaming video content–these rate plans should be beneficial to users to saving money while getting the most out of their phones.
Compared to AT&T’s change to AT&T’s finite and tiered data offerings in the U.S., the Canadian plan for $30 seems like quite a bargain for heavy data users who rely primarily on mobile broadband rather than WiFi connectivity.
