A recent video of MeeGo for tablet shows the potential and capabilities of Intel’s and Nokia’s joint efforts at a scalable mobile operating system and now the dynamic duo is promising a pre-alpha version for smartphones to hit on June 30th. According to Valtteri Halla, Director of Meego Doftware at Nokia, “It’s what we call Day One for the MeeGo handset release,” Halla explained. “The productized release of the software is still (set for release in) October of this year, but this is a kind of pre-Alpha release.”
The full productized edition of MeeGo for smartphones is scheduled for October. Considering that Nokia is migrating its flagship N-series smartphones to MeeGo, this could give Android some challenge as Nokia will be making some aggressive moves in the smartphone space.
