It looks like the Palm Pre Plus on Verizon Wireless is experiencing some growing pains, with users reporting some issues with MMS and GPS.
The first issue, MMS, isn’t all too serious. It seems that when the device is connected through WiFi, the Pre Plus attempts to send MMS messages over WiFi rather than Verizon Wireless’ CDMA/EVDO Rev. A network. The quick solution until a bug fix arrives: turn off WiFi prior to sending MMS.
The second issue being reported is that the Pre Plus isn’t able to get AGPS triangulation for navigation apps (like Google Maps) on the device and users have to wait a long time for a GPS satellite lock. The only app, thus far, that seems capable of getting quick AGPS lock is VZ Navigator. The trick here is to open VZ Navigator prior to opening other apps, like Google Maps, even if you haven’t purchased a subscription for VZ Navigator–just don’t accept the subscription charges, leave the VZ Navigator card open, and multi-task your way over to the Google Maps card.
