The Nokia N8 — which we recently unboxed and took a look at both the hardware and the software — had its PR 1.1 firmware leaked last week somewhere in Italy, indicating at least its existence and stage in testing.
Nokia announced today that it will soon start to roll out the 1.1 software update, which many expected for a January release, for the N8 — and for the C6-01 for that matter — but no other details were made public. While Nokia says will keep users posted on the update and the process, we found out from the leak, if the information is correct, that the new software version will at least bring landscape orientation to the dialer.
Update: The Official Nokia Blog just went live announcing today’s release of the 1.1 Software Update with features added that concern performance and are not really visible to the user. Among the changes, meeting requests that can now be accepted straight from the email, maps integration with email, new Quick Office 6.4 editor version (for N8 users) and three games: Need for Speed Shift, Real Golf and Galaxy on Fire. (In some countries, Need for Speed is replaced with Asphalt 5).
