Just a couple weeks back, we saw Nokia update its site’s Symbian Belle page to reflect the update status for a couple additional handsets. The X7, E7, N8, E6, and 500 models are all now listed as those to which Belle will soon be coming. Problem is, just when will that be? Although Nokia gave earlier indications that we could hope to see those updates released before the end of the year, it now looks like things are being delayed until 2012.
A curious user tweeted Nokia’s UK branch to ask about the update status specifically for the N8. The company’s response dashed our hopes for a release this month, saying that “Symbian Belle will be out early next year.”
We’ve no reason to expect that the rest of the pack would get their updates significantly in advance of the N8′s, so we’re likely left waiting until 2012 before we’ll see any of them arrive. For now, if you’re interested in running Symbian Belle, your only options are the Nokia 603, 700, and 701, all of which shipped with the platform already installed.
