New Nokia smartphones like the E6 come with the latest Symbian Anna pre-installed, but what about existing hardware? Earlier this summer, Nokia confirmed plans to get Anna updates out to the N8, E7, C7 and C6-01 sometime by the end of August. It looks like it will meet that deadline with time to spare, as reports indicate that Nokia’s preparing to distribute the update for the N8 and E7 imminently.
The Navifirm tool, which connects to Nokia’s own servers to access firmware updates, reveals that Nokia has been loading its system with updates for every carrier and color variant of the N8 and E7 under the sun. Once all its ducks are in a row, Nokia will presumably start sending the files out to the phones. That could be hours or days (let’s hope not weeks), but either way, it should be soon.
We haven’t heard anything new about when to expect Anna updates for the rest of the Symbian phones it’s been announced for, but lacking any updates, we’ll continue to go by Nokia’s estimation that they’ll be here by the end of the month.
