Nanocoating Tech for Glass Screens to Eliminate Glare, Scratches
By Chuong Nguyen | May 7, 2010 10:49 AM
A new technology developed at Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials IWM in Freiburg, Germany will help glass displays reduce or even eliminate glare in direct sunlight as well as be tough enough to avoid scratching. Scientists say that their inspiration with this nanocoating glass technology was inspired by the eyes of moths, which are non-reflective. Hopefully, this could improve how AMOLED displays perform in direct sunlight as AMOLED screens appear a bit more washed out under the bright rays of the sun when compared to their LCD counterparts.
