Windows CE is the core upon which many personal navigation devices (PND) and Windows Mobile are built upon, much in the same way that Nokia builds its S60 interface on top of the Symbian OS core. It looks like the controversial Meizu M8, based upon the Windows CE core and not Windows Mobile, may be bringing multi-touch closer to reality on a non-Apple device. The video on
The Meizu M8 has gotten a lot of heat lately due to delays and its striking similarity to the iPhone, almost as a direct clone, although it has gone through a revision to make it less of an identical twin to its American cousin. The Chinese-based Meizu hopes its device will be a low cost alternative to the iPhone, to be sold SIM-free and unlocked for about the subsidized contract price of the current crop of iPhones.
