It looks like the Samsung SCH-R900 has made its way through the FCC as a dual-mode CDMA/LTE handset for MetroPCS, which will light up its LTE network in the near future. There is not a lot of information about the phone, but the SCH-R900 will be one of the earlier LTE-compatible 4G phones on the market when it launches, if not the earliest. Although Verizon Wireless will begin deploying its 4G network, the nation’s largest carrier is only committing to USB modems and data devices initially, with smartphones and phones to launch in the near future. If MetroPCS pulls this off, the Samsung SCH-R900 may be a compelling device. Hopefully, it will run a smartphone OS and not a feature-phone OS.
