Before the Windows Phone 7 Series announcement at Mobile World Congress, rumors of the LG Apollo were circulating around the internet and many had believed that the device would be among the earliest devices to be sport Microsoft’s next-generation operating system. However, we’re hearing rumors that the name for the LG device shown at the Engadget Show would be called the LG Panther.

While the Panther branding may be good, we’re hoping Apple doesn’t get litigious, especially in light of the HTC legal battle. Apple had released a previous version of its OS X operating system under the Panther brand and has been using jungle cat names for its operating system.
