Yesterday, we looked at a teaser image purportedly from LG and showing off what was speculated to possibly be the next iteration of Google’s Nexus line, or something new to the LG Optimus series that looked very much like the Optimus One. A light bulb went off over at IntoMobile, where they recognized the image as coming from an LG invitation dating to late last summer.
LG sent out the image in advance of an online press conference to announce the Optimus One – no wonder the mysterious silhouette looked so familiar. Just as we suspected, the pic we examined yesterday had been enlarged, which now looks to be part of an attempt to re-center the image by cropping off the event-related text at the bottom. A try at manipulating the text at the top of the image shows its creator had trouble re-creating the original’s gradient background, so he or she seems to have chosen to avoid that work as much as possible.
What of the rumored LG smartphones we thought could be tied to the image? The LG-made Nexus is a single-source rumor at the moment, so we’re always looking for something more to either confirm the news or put it to bed; it’s still up in the air. We’re pretty sure we’ll see some kind of Optimus Slider soon, and now we’re just waiting to see who will come across some pictures of it first.
