LG CEO Koo Bon Joon reportedly told the audience that the manufacturer’s mobile unit will have a difficult return to profit in the second quarter of the year after at least four brokerages predicted an April-May return to profit in the mobile division.
The first quarter of 2011 brought LG’s mobile unit a loss of around $93 million making it a second bad quarter in a row for the Korean manufacturer. LG’s Chief Financial Officer, David Jung, said that sales and earnings will improve this quarter thanks to the new Optimus smartphones in the line-up — aided by the new 3D TVs.
