HTC has been busy thinking up some new product names, recently filing applications in Europe to trademark a handful. Will any of these names represent smartphones that the company actually brings to market?
The company filed for protection for the HTC Velo, HTC Cheetah, HTC Skyrocket, HTC Titan, and HTC Raider. All five share the same goods and services descriptions, covering the gadget gamut from smartphones through accessories.
Velo arguably sounds the most like a smartphone of all the names on the list (not to be confused with the music video site VEVO). Cheetah is an unusual choice for a smartphone name, but we’ve said the same in the past when first hearing of models like the HTC Arrive. Skyrocket has a Thunderbolt vibe to it, and Titan and Raider just sound cool.
It may be a long time before we hear any of these names again, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for the next time one pops up on our radar.
