Carriers doing spring cleaning usually sees a couple of devices reach end-of-life statuses with the network operator, let it be recently and in the United States, or coming soon worldwide like in the case of Orange U.K.
According to the image above, Orange U.K. is preparing to scratch the HTC Flyer tablet which was introduced last year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. EOL usually means making place for a new device and with this year’s MWC around the corner we have no doubts that there will be plenty of candidates to fill in the vacant spot. The Flyer should go out as of January 2012 (together with the BlackBerry Torch 9860 and the Nokia E6).
On rather similar note, the Apple iPhone 3GS is also listed in the end-of-life table, though targeted for March. Orange U.K. currently offers the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 as well as the iPhone 4S. Whether Orange U.K. is making room for the iPhone 5 (whenever it will land) or just killing a product which no longer sells is anyone’s guess. Still, if you want to grab the iPhone 3GS (8GB black) you should do so by March.
