The Eye-Fi is a neat product that solves the problem of always having to connect your camera to a computer to transfer images. The product is an SD card that doubles as a WiFi chip, allowing you to wirelessly transfer photos from your digital camera to your computer when in range of a wireless network. It can also bypass your computer and beam your photos to the cloud. But hey, what about smartphones? Today the company is announcing that a software upgrade to its Eye-Fi X2 product will allow the device to work as a wireless hotspot, allowing your smarpthone to connect to your camera (neato!) and transfer photos or video for sharing and viewing.
