The Dell Streak, previously referred to as the Mini 5, is an Android device with a custom Dell UI overlay and a 5-inch display. Marketed by Dell as “the ultimate portable tablet PC,” the device has a 5-inch screen that is larger than most phones and smaller than most tablets by comparison. Unlike the iPad from Apple, the 5-inch Dell Streak will also be able to take calls–the WiFi & 3G model of the iPad is a data-only device and voice calls are not possible.
The device will be made available first in the UK in June through O2 and retailers. Though AT&T hasn’t made any announcements regarding the Dell Streak, Michael Dell had stated before that the device will be headed for that carrier in the US and the timeframe should be later in the summer.
The Streak will ship with Android 1.6 though Dell says it plans to upgrade the smartphone-tablet to Android 2.2 to take advantage of Adobe Flash 10.1 and other features in Froyo.
