We were able to sign up for the plus service on the Hulu Plus app, available for free on the iTunes App Store for the iPhone, and entered our credit card information for the $9.99 per month service. The Hulu Plus app gives you full seasons of popular television shows as well as some on-demand movie content. Streaming quality over WiFi and on AT&T’s 3G network was good and there was little to no buffer time at all. In my experience with the app, it performs better than the ABC streaming app for the iPad and quality seems better and more consistent than the Netflix iPad app.
The drawback is that although you’re paying a $9.99 per month subscription fee, you’re still hampered by ads that interrupt your viewing experience. The service is in preview beta right now, and you can go to Hulu and enter your email to join the beta list. Hulu Plus is available on the iPhone and iPad, and the company had previously demoed its app on Windows Phone 7, probably using Silverlight technologies on Microsoft’s mobile OS.
