PCWorld has just released the results of their 2nd 3G Performance Test and AT&T’s network comes out on top. The tests were conducted in 13 cities using laptops and smartphones.
The tests validate my personal experience with AT&T improving significantly over the last 8 months. What surprised me is that Verizon placed last. The findings show that although Verizon has the best overall 3G coverage, their average combined laptop/smartphone tests download speeds peek at around 900Mbps, AT&T peaks at around 1400Kbps. The smartphone only tests (they did not include a WM device) show the iPhone average is 1259Kbps, while the Motorola Droid comes in second at 1075Kbps.
