With Black Friday just a week away, news of upcoming deals has already started arriving. AT&T is joining in the celebration of capitalism with a weekend full of themed sales, including the opportunity to get some online-only deals on smartphones.
The two days that promise to be the best chances to pick up a smartphone bargain are Saturday the 27th and Monday the 29th. On Saturday AT&T will sell select models of refurbished phones for a penny apiece (with contract, of course). The company isn’t providing a full list of which handsets will be featured in the sale, but it did make a point to single-out the BlackBerry Torch as a smartphone that would be available refurbed.
Monday is the big smartphone event, with a new featured device on sale for a penny every three hours. Among other models, Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10, the HTC Aria, and the BlackBerry Curve 3G will get their three hours in the sun.
Not on the list: iPhones and Windows Phone 7 devices. AT&T may just be keeping those bargains under wraps, hoping to lure plenty of potential customer to its site next weekend when the full details of the sales start to become available. You can sign up in advance for email alerts to let you know about those deals as they’re announced, and you can elect to receive Cyber Monday smartphone deal alerts via text message.
Lastly, there’s the chance that some smartphones will pop up during Friday’s sale, with AT&T promising unspecified savings on touchscreen phones. For the one-cent deals, though, you’ll have to wait until later in the weekend.
