AT&T announced today that pre-sales for the Motorola Atrix 4G begin on February 13. The subsidized price is $199.99 with a 2 year contract. Bundled pricing for the Atrix 4G and Motorola laptop dock will also be available, at $499.99 with a 2 year contract. A $100 mail-in rebate will also be an option for purchasers who subscribe to AT&T’s “DataPro” smartphone data plan. This pre-release availability coincides with Mobile World Congress (MWC), in Barcelona, Spain.
Also to be available is an “entertainment access kit” for Atrix 4G which includes the Motorola HD multimedia dock, a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse, and a remote control for $189.99. Customers who wish to purchase the Atrix 4G and laptop dock together also have that option at $599.99 with a $100 rebate available if subscribed to a DataConnect plan.
AT&T also mentions that the Atrix 4G’s laptop dock, which features a full Firefox browser, will only be usable with a tethering data plan. This is significant since the device only requires the “DataPro” smartphone data plan, which costs $25 per month. The cheapest tethering plan available runs $45 per month, a significant cost increase.
