Verizon Wireless to Grow Droid Family with Motorola Devour

It looks like the Droid family on Verizon Wireless, which debuted with the Motorola Droid and the HTC Droid Eris, is about to welcome a new member called the Motorola Devour, which has gone by the codename Calgary for a while. The device is reminiscent of the SideKick devices made by Motorola, utilizing a more symmetrical sliding mechanism rather than the Droid’s off-center keyboard due to the directional pad being placed on the right. Additionally, keys appear to be off-set with the spacebar scrunched into the bottom keyboard row. Rather than a directional pad, it seems that Motorola will be using an optical trackpad.

Other rumored specs include a 3-megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, microSD for storage expansion, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the possibility of Android 2.1 with the MOTO BLUR UI that was left out of the Droid for a Google Experience handset on the bigger brother.

It looks like Android, with its cloud-based paradigm being attached to Google’s servers, be the grown-up version of the SideKick in the Motorola Devour.
