Remember the diminutive pico projector that our very own Daniel Webster featured a while go? Well, if all goes well, Nikon is hoping to be one of the larger consumer electronics maker to bring the small projectors to mainstream acceptance. If rumors are correct, Nikon will be releasing a small point and shoot Coolpix digital camera with an integrated projector for instant viewing of captured photos in a dark room.

An announcement by the camera maker is expected this week, with the LED projector enabled camera dropping into consumer hands sometime later in the month. The projector is said to be capable of displaying an 8-inch by 12-inch picture in a darm environment, which isn’t terribly large, but a welcomed step in integrating the small projectors into gadgets and consumer gears.
