Nokia Phones to Sport Officially Sanctioned Version of Microsoft Office

Looks like the officially sanctioned Office for Mobile won't be just on Windows Mobile handset anymore. The rumored Microsoft and Nokia joint press conference is now rumored to be for a mobile version of Microsoft Office for Nokia handsets.

Nokia S60 handsets so far has Office viewers and editors from third party companies like Dataviz for Documents to Go and QuickOffice. Those viewers only work to edit and view Microsoft Word and Excel formats in 2007 versions and earlier. PowerPoint support is limited to only viewing, and mostly to PowerPoint versions prior to 2007. Hopefully, the Microsoft joint announcement can take the S60 Symbian platform's office support to match Windows Mobile, with full 2007 viewing and editing (except for PPT files).

We still have to wait to hear official confirmation from the press confirmation, though, but as it stands, nothing terribly major.
