Thanks to a tip from one of our readers, Martin, we notice a blog post on Liveside.net talking about the upcoming “Wave 4″ beta versions of the Windows Live Essentials suite. As you know, most of the value-adding applications for email, calendar, contacts, photo management, and video editing have been removed from Windows 7 in response to anti-trust allegations. The Live Essentials Suite is a free download of applications that bring these great utilities back to Windows 7 for those who want them.
Windows Live Essentials is said to soon offer “seamless integration between your desktops and mobile devices.” Windows Live Mail is an excellent application for managing your calendar, contacts, email, and newsgroup subscriptions. It also works well for accessing your Windows Live Hotmail account and syncs with those cloud services. Could the inclusion of mobile device integration mean that Windows Live Mail might be compatible with the Windows Mobile Device Center soon?
Windows Mobile devices do already sync contacts and email with the Windows Live Hotmail service. Could this mean a new version of the software for Windows Mobile that syncs the Live Calendar as well?
Or do you think we might see a Windows Live Essentials integration with Microsoft’s MyPhone cloud-syncing service?
Of course, we’re assuming that “mobile devices” means Windows Mobile, but frankly that could mean anything including MP3 players or Zune devices.
What do you think this “seamless integration between your desktops and mobile devices” might entail?
