Is the Nexus One headed to AT&T?

The Google Nexus One is currently sold unlocked, but because it’s 3G wireless bands are only compatible with T-Mobile USA, the phone is only getting limited adoption on America’s fourth largest carrier. Google has plans on making the HTC-sourced phone available also on Verizon’s CDMA/EVDO Rev. A mobile network, but recent FCC filings show that a GSM variant, similar to the T-Mobile one, is being tested–that version would be compatible with Verizon Wireless.

The FCC is labeling the new model number as FCC ID NM899110 while the T-Mobile model number was FCC ID NM899100.

Whether the handset will be landing anytime soon on Google’s website retail channel for use on AT&T is unknown, but the Nexus One’s new compatibility with WCDMA Bands I, II, and V may make it a good Android handset for use on AT&T or one of the Canadian GSM carriers up north.
