HTC Firestone = Touch HD II?

We're filing this under the rumor section for now, but if all pans out, the new HTC Firestone looks to be a device that is similar to the Whitestone, but will rock GSM rather than CDMA. Both devices utilize a slab tablet form with large screen for web browsing and multimedia that was made popular by HTC with the Touch HD. Like the Touch HD, the HTC Firestone will not make it to the US since it lacks proper US 3G support, which is a shame. Could the Firestone be the successor to the Touch HD?

The Firestone is said to have an 8-megapixel camera, a resolution that rivals the forthcoming and still rumored Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2. The device seems to have a multimedia focus as it supports a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Here are the specs for the Firestone:

- Phone: GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS900, UMTS2100.
- GSM and HSDPA connectivity.
- Windows Mobile 6.5.
- Screen 3.6 inch WVGA touchscreen display transflective TFT, 65536 scales.
- CPU: speed 600Mhz Qualcomm 8250 processor.
- Memory: 256MB RAM and 512 MB ROM.
- Slot: Micro SD.
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR.
- Wireless LAN: 802.11b, 802.11g.
- AGPS.
- G Sensor.
- Headphones: 3.5mm.
- Main Camera: 8 million pixels
- August 2009

Again, the US is missing out here.
