It looks like, if the renderings from Unwired View prove true, that there may be a version of the HTC Diamond3 running Android. The Diamond3, also known as the HTC Obsession, is a Windows Mobile phone and is expected to receive the next-generation Windows Mobile 7 treatment. However, the latest renderings of the device show Android loaded onto the Diamond3, which could potentially mean that HTC may be recycling the same hardware to power two different OSes.
There are several questionable items from the Diamond3 rendering that may make it improbable to be true:
1. Hardware buttons: The hardware buttons, uncluding the Menu button, seems to be very Android-specific. A Windows Mobile version may have different buttons and may follow the scheme from the HTC HD2 rather than from a device like the T-Mobile G1.
2. Charge/Sync port: The rendering shows a proprietary mini USB charge/sync port that’s been used in the past by HTC. However, the HTC HD2 had switched to a micro USB standard. It would be odd for HTC to use an older standard when they have moved at least part of the portfolio to a new standard.
