Rich Corinthian Leather…
The first thing you notice about the case is that
its made of a fine grade leather. The
smell…oh yeah. Even today, a few months since
receiving it, it still has that "new car" smell.
This is one of the better made and more affordable
cases that I’ve seen on the market for the Palm
700w/p. I’ve carried it in this case for about
3 months, and it has been through a little bit of abuse.
I’m very pleased with the case’s durability and
build quality. despite all of the us it has gotten, it
really shows no signs of visible wear.
Additional features of the case include:
- Padded Magnetic Flip Cover
- Rotating Ultra Clip
- Mirror/Businsess/Credit Card Slot
- Two SD/MMC Card Slots
- Mesh Speaker Cover
- Accomodating for Camera Lens and Mirror
Beam Me Up…
One of the things that I found myself doing,
especially when I’m in a hurry is giving the case a
bit of a swing to flip the magnetic cover closed
after dialing a call. It’s sort of a reversed
and upside down Star Trek communicator flip; but it’s
very effective. The case also makes a very
satisfying "snick" when the magnets meet. Very
nice… I also found that the Ultra Clip works very
well with this case design, except for two basic
areas:
The magnets need to be a little stronger. Every
time my jacket brushed up against the case, the cover
tended to come away from the front of the device and
hang open.
The metal clip tab wears down the plastic catch on the
belt clip very easily. If you have the MSFP
installed on the device and you get a lot of mail, you
could be pulling the device on and off the clip a lot.
After a while, you’re going to need a new belt clip, as
the metal clip tab wears the black plastic clip away
very easily. I had this problem with one of my
Vaja cases with an Ultra clip and the case fell off the
clip. If you remember, I even had an iPAQ 3765
commit
suicide, so be forewarned. I have had to
replace the clip; and if I were keeping the device,
would likely have to about every 3 months or so.

OVERALL
IMPRESSION
This is simply an awesome case. It’s
affordable, good-looking and will protect your
700w/p from damage. While I did have some
minor issues with the magnet strength, they aren’t
show stoppers. You will however, need to get
yourself a new UltraClip every 3 months or so, as
the metal clip tab really does a number on the
plastic catch on the clip. This is, however,
the only real con for this case; and as such, I give it the following rating:
