INTRODUCTION

One thing that I see as

a problem with all Pocket PC’s is that the battery

life just isn’t as long as we need it to be.

If your battery dies, not only can you lose data,

but you can’t use it again until you connect it to

some kind of charger.  Now this has happened

to me many times. Let’s say that I am in my car and

looking up a place on my Pocket Streets, and the battery

dies.  Not only am I lost, but now I have a dead

Pocket PC, and I know that if it had juice, I could

get "un-lost".  If you are a big user

of these devices, I feel that you need to have multiple

ways of charging them.  Just the other day on

the way to my monthly Pocket PC User Group Meeting,

I remembered that my iPAQ was close to drained.

I went to grab my charger that I thought I had in

my car. Well it turned out that I had half of it.

You know the kind that has the USB charger and sync

cable in one that plugs into a cigarette lighter module?

Well the sync cable was at home hooked up to my computer

because I was installing something on my device.

So there I was with a dead iPAQ going to my Pocket

PC User Group Meeting.  Showing up to a meeting

like that is like showing up to the Daytona 500 without

your race car, or showing up to a basketball game

without your sneakers.  Just then I remembered

that I had the Seidio 2 in 1 charger in my bag to

show off at the meeting, so I plugged it in and after

my drive from Wisconsin to Minnesota for the meeting,

my iPAQ was charged.

PRODUCT FEATURES

There is not much to this

device itself, it does basically what it says it does,

it is a 2 in 1 charger and that is what it does. It

has either a cigarette lighter/automotive power outlet

or normal wall option. It all folds up into itself,

and actually is a very compact unit.

Seidio’s

2 in 1 charger

    The

cigarette lighter plug folds out 180 degrees and the

wall plug folds out 90 degrees.  The 2 foot coiled

cord can stretch up to 9 feet.

    The

specs for the charger are: special circuitry design

protects your PDA from overcharging and short-circuiting,

intelligent IC ensures efficient and reliable charging,

and that you can rapidly charge your PDA battery in

just 2 hours.

OPTIONS

    It appears that you can

get the charger in a USB option.  Basically you

take the USB sync/charge cable and use that as the

cord to charge your PDA.

PURCHASING

    You can purchase this

from Seidio’s

ordering page. Just select whatever device you

have and that will take you to the main ordering page

for that device.  The device that I showed above

sells for $29.95.  There are 2 other options

though; you can get the 2 in 1 USB Charger Adapter

which you can then use with an existing USB sync/charge

cable for $24.95, or you can get the 2-in-1 USB Charger

Kit which comes with the sync/charge cable for $34.95.

Personally, I like the unit that does not use the

USB cable. This is because the other unit is all in

one, so you can’t lose or forget the USB cable, since

it is always attached to the device.  I can see

benefits to the USB option though, since it then provides

3 charging options: a computer USB source, the cigarette

lighter and wall power source.  You can build

whatever solution meets your needs.

PROS

  • Charge from wall

    or cigarette lighter

  • All in one

    charging solution

  • Rapid/Safe

    charging

CONS

  • I couldn’t

    find a problem with it

OVERALL IMPRESSION

This is a very handy charger.

Now, instead of two or three items, I just have to

grab one item when I am hitting the road.
