SanDisk 8GB microSDHC Card

INTRODUCTION

Have you ever considered how much storage would be enough for your needs? As technology evolves to offer more, the demand for storage grows at the same pace. SanDisk claims to answer those needs with their continuously evolving storage cards that continue to offer us more and more capacity for our devices. Will more storage sacrifice your current device’s performance, or will it improve your mobile experience? Read on to find out!

WHAT’S HOT

At approximately the size of a finger nail, microSDHC (microSD High-Capacity) is what you’re use to seeing in typical microSD cards, but with an improved infrastructure inside. microSD currently ranges from 512 MB to 2 GB while microSDHC can be found in 4, 6 and 8 GB capacities (for now). You could hold both together and not notice the difference except for the fact that the card mentions it. All you have to be concerned about is if your device supports microSDHC.

PRODUCT FEATURES

As you’ll notice in our video, I tested it on various devices and all showed very good results. My speed test also proved that the Class 4 (based on SD 2.0) speed rating built into this card does show to be faster than other microSD cards.

HELP SUPPORT

I wasn’t expecting much support for a storage card, but I was wrong. There is enough content to support many of your doubts regarding microSDHC as a solution for your needs.

BUGS AND WISHES

I can’t say I found any bugs on the card, everything worked just as retailed. I can obviously wish for more storage for the same price, but everybody knows that will come eventually

PURCHASING

The card can be found in all major retail stores, including

SanDisk’s store

at $139.99.

PROS

  • Works with most current microSD compatible devices
  • Faster than microSD

  • Includes adapters that allow it to serve other media card type needs

CONS

  • Pricey
  • Easy to loose
  • microSDHC format may not be supported by your device

OVERALL IMPRESSION

What do I think about it? Well, with an average capacity of either 2,000 MP3 songs, 19,000 JPEG images or 40 hours of MP4 video packed on my phone, my separate MP3 player has somehow disappeared! I don’t think anybody would complain about having the option to carry more on their current mobile device. I must say I’ve began to pay more attention to memory expandable devices after noticing how microSDHC is evolving. Lets hope they continue to bring us even higher capacities!
