As more and more mobile phones offer Bluetooth functionality, Bluetooth-enabled wireless headsets have become increasingly common. Logitech joins the pack with its Mobile Freedom Headset, a relatively inexpensive offering aimed at consumers looking for a stylish headset and a light price tag.
INTRODUCTION
This headset stands apart from other as it is based on the Bluetooth v1.2 compliance standard. As a result, it is much more likely to integrate with some of the features already in place on mobile phone handsets. In most cases, this gives the end user a good shot at activating voice dialing through the headset itself.
WHAT’S HOT
In the package is the Logitech Mobile Freedom Headset, AC adaptor (for recharging), and Quick Start Guide.
Setup was effortless. The headset comes with minimal packaging, and a extremely brief quick start guide. Don’t think that Logitech was just looking to save paper, the headset really is a cinch to use and even easier to set up. Pairing the phone means you’ll have to hold down the multi-function button for 10 seconds.
SETUP
Once that’s happened, the phone LED flashes red and blue and the headset enters pairing mode.
At this point, it’s time to put the mobile phone into pairing mode. For the purposes of this review, I used an Audiovox SMT5600 Smartphone.
The headset is immediately recognized. No problems at all.
To pair with the headset, the 4-digit passkey must be entered (which is disclosed in the Quick Start Guide).
The Smartphone realizes that the Logitech is a hands-free device.
The Mobile Freedom Headset has finished pairing quickly and effortlessly.
The product has an extremely simple design, and this couldn’t be more appreciated. All too often Bluetooth headset manufacturers make the mistake of trying to include as many buttons as possible on the headset, but often I strike the wrong one. In a business scenario this could be disastrous as calls can be inadvertently ended when trying to complete a different task (like changing the volume level).
PRODUCT FEATURES
According to Logitech, the Mobile Freedom Headset can operate at a range of up to 10 meters from the mobile phone it is paired with. It’s also important to know that you can expect up to 7 hours of talk time, or about to 250 hours of standby time with each charge (according to Logitech). Surprisingly, this was very consistent with our battery test results.
The headset has a multi-function button which answers and ends calls, and also activates Voice Dialing (where applicable). Around the Logitech logo is the up and down volume control toggle.
The headset maintains a relatively small size, and the widest points are its speaker and nose-muffling microphone.
The back piece swivels all the way around the earphone perimeter so that users can find the optimum tilt at which to clip the device to their ears.
The product literature, as mentioned earlier, is extremely brief. However, this is completely fine since the device is so simplified and intuitive to the end user.

Overall, this is a fantastic bluetooth headset, and one terrific value. If you are looking for a headset that’s design is as extensive as its features, this may be the headset for you. Devices like this put hope back in my heart for the future of Bluetooth. For once, it just simply works!
