JAVOedge’s JAVOScreen Overlay: Dell Axim X3

Brandon Miniman | March 3, 2004 10:24 PM

WHAT’S HOT

JAVOedge claims that their overlays will do the
following:

Keeps
screen clean at all times

Protects and retains the value of your PDA

Anti-reflective

Scratch-proof

Dust Repellent and Washable

Re-positionable

Durable

And
interestingly enough, the screen protector lives up to all of
its claims … even of it being scratch proof. Coins, paper clips, tacks,
and even pens (yes, I tried writing on this thing) couldn’t effect the
surface of the screen protector…good stuff!

I
also could have sworn that the overlay increased the brightness of my
Axim a bit. Maybe because there is hardly any glare, allowing the screen
to project its image more accurately.

The
fit of the JAVOScreen was perfect for my Axim; I am sure all of their
screen protectors are as perfect a fit.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

The
overlay comes in an envelope-type package, about the size of a small
novel.

The
JAVOScreen kit actually includes a good-quality cleaning cloth, which
does well in cleaning the screen of your device, and a small piece of
cardboard which they refer to as an "Installation Card."

INSTALLATION

    The install kit does not include instructions;
rather, they send you to their
website
for this. Installation is very easy and involves cleaning
the screen with compressed air and/or the enclosed cloth, aligning the
overlay, removing the backing from the overlay, and then smoothing out
the bubbles with the included installation card. This process takes
between 3 and 5 minutes, depending on how many air bubbles you find
yourself having to work out. I was able to get an almost flawless result
within about 5 minutes.

BUGS AND WISHES

What
wishes could you possibly have for a screen protector? I would have
liked to see included instructions; although a great economical decision
on the part of JAVOedge, it can be a burden for some to check online
for installation instructions.

PURCHASING

All
JAVOedge screen protects are $10.95, a great price in my opinion for what
the kit includes. To check out a screen protector for your device, click

PROS

  • Lives up to all of its claims

  • Perfect fit

  • Actually improved appearance
    of screen

  • Comes with installation tools

CONS

  • No included instructions

OVERALL IMPRESSION

For the price of $10.95, you just simply cannot
beat the value of having a mere piece of plastic that could potentially
save your screen from whatever you bring in contact with it. JAVOedge
did an outstanding job with their overlay kit, better than I’ve seen
from other companies.
