iProducts claims its iHolster’s to be "Attractive
WHAT’S
HOT
and Durable" while being made from "Impact Resistant Material."
It also touts the function of its "Ultra Clip" which has a
security feature to keep your device locked to the cradle at all times,
by only releasing yourself when you turn it 90 degrees either way.
There is an iHolster for most common devices, including Dell Axim X3/5,
hp iPAQ 19xx, 22xx, 30xx, 50xx, and 41xx, and Toshiba e300/700.
Indeed I did find all of iProducts’ claims to be valid, especially the
one on its durability; but whether it is attractive is up to you, but
hey, what does an attractive device belt holder look like? Hmm…
PRODUCT
FEATURES
For $31.00 you receive the above. Both the clip and the cradle are made
from high quality plastic. A gripe in particular that I have is the
ugly iProducts badge, there for everyone to see when the cradle becomes
vacant. Removing this label reveals a small metal grommet, which is
not obtrusive. I left the label off.
The iHolster with the device looks decent, but I certainly wouldn’t
refer to it as attractive. Contrary to the perceived close proximity
of the flaps and the application buttons, they never actually come in
contact.
The
iHolster cradles the device snugly from all perspectives.
The
black color and straight lines of the iHolster allows it to mesh with
any belt nicely.
Detaching
the device takes some practice and often requires two hands. I imagine
after the iHolster has broken in a bit, the device would become easier
to remove.
The first thing I noticed about the iHolster
BUGS
AND WISHES
is the clip: once seated on the nub on the cradle, it pivots freely
without "clicking" at intervals, similar to my cell phone
holster. This allows your device to swing freely when walking, which
can get a bit annoying.
I’d also like to see the price on this come down. I hardly think that
$31.00 is appropriate for a cradle and a clip made of plastic, even
though both of these components are of high quality. I’d like to see
this product around $20.00.
This is a convenience item, and to not be able to remove your device
from the iHolster with one hand is a blatant inconvenience. In a professional
setting, one doesn’t always have both hands free to draw upon a device…if
the side bolsters on the device weren’t as snug, (thus taking about
from its security), then this problem could probably be remedied.

OVERALL
IMPRESSION
I came out with a reliable way to keep my device at hands reach, or
two hands reach in this case, unfortunately. Whether I will continue
to use the iHolster remains to be seen, as it would take one heck of
a product to rent out the space next to my cell phone belt clip. But
for those of you who are embarrassed by a bulky pocket, courtesy of
pocketing your device, then consider an iHolster for your belt.
