WHAT'S HOT

As you will see, the colors are sharp and graphics great. Using the stylus to aim makes my accuracy a lot better. Why can't I use a stylus to aim on my desktop?

PROGRAM FEATURES
Zuma includes great, colorful graphics that reflect the ancient South American civilization; all this comes with a panpipes music soundtrack and chanted sound effects.

You begin Zuma from the Main Menu.

Zuma game options are in the toolbar at the bottom each screen from which you can Abandon Game, and Show or Reset Highscores.

This setting does not allow you to export the scores, but it does show you who the BEST five players are (Check it out... he, he, he...)

If you choose to reset the high scores, a popup verifies your reset selection.

The Tools menu contains Sound Settings, Game Settings, Register, Instructions, and About options.

The music and effects can be adjusted separately. The game settings are varied and cover everything from advanced effects and timing, to repeat fire.

In the center of the Main Menu, we find the Help button.

Which takes us to step-by-step instructions and playing tips.

You clear the balls by creating combos - just make sure they don't reach the skull!

Shooting coins gains you extra points.

Push Play (and then Play again) to let the entertainment begin!

The colored balls will start to roll on the track. Using the stylus, point at the ball you want the Stone Frog to shoot at.

As with most Astraware titles, you can mute the sound and music in game (shown as red buttons).

The green balls on the upper left corner of the play screen show the number of lives remaining.

Gold coins occasionally appear near the corners of the screen. Fire a ball at the coin in order to pick it up.

In the upper right hand corner is the Zuma Meter. Balls will not advance when the box is filled - which means you can enjoy a shoot-fest!

You may also change the ball's color in the Stone Frog’s head by tapping on it.

After you complete each step of the level, a list of your Points, Combos, Coins, Gaps, Max Chain, and Max Combo will appear.

HELP SUPPORT

Astraware also has a support section on their website, just in case you run into an trouble. They also have a helpful forum.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS     According to Handango, the system requirements is any color Pocket PC 2002 or newer. BUGS AND WISHES

I didn't have any problems with the game.  I would appreciate an option to start another game at level one, so if I want to start a new game , or if someone else wants to play a game they can start their game starting at the first level.  I thought by resetting the Highscores that I might be able to begin again at level 1, but, no such luck - you have to actually abandon an existing game.  I also think that adding levels of difficulty (skill levels) would increase the challenge for masters of the game.  With small PPC screens, I would have substituted a more distinct color for the gray balls so when you are playing the game you can tell what the next color ball is.

gray ball

The blue balls at the bottom of the track have circle icons in them, but the instructions don't tell you what specific thing they do, and when the flash you can't always tell what color they are.  The gray ball in the Frog's mouth blends in with the frog.

PURCHASING

    You can purchase this

game from Astraware, the price listed is $19.95.

PROS

  • Great colorful graphics
  • Variety of balls that roll along the tracks
  • Looks just like the original PC version
  • Addictive

CONS

  • No choice of levels (skill) of play
  • Unable to start over at level one without abandoning
  • Balls in play do specific things, but it is difficult to identify their purpose without a description
  • The gray colored marbles in the stone frog blend rather than pop
  • When the special icon marbled balls are flashing, you can’t always tell what color they are
  • Addictive

OVERALL IMPRESSION

Even though I listed more Cons than Pros, I really like this game and enjoy playing it.  Who would of ever thought that shooting marbled balls out of an ancient Stone Frog's mouth could be so much fun? This game is the most addictive game I have on my iPAQ.  I start playing it, and end up in kind of a zone.  You know the one I am talking about.  This game is almost identical to its Desktop version in every way, but with the pinpoint accuracy of the stylus, you can hardly miss.  So start shooting the balls and hitting all of those combos, coins, and 3 ball matches.  Learn to control the ancient Stone Frog idol. Did I mention this game is addictive?  Great job Astraware and PopCap for getting me hooked on another game (and a must have game at that).
