Google Maps Updated, Adds Layers!
Google Maps' new update gives you a content-rich view of everything around you. Version 3.2 incorporates a new layer system, which helps make it easier to find and interact with surrounding geographic areas on your mobile device.
With layers, you can effortlessly access Wikipedia info about nearby sites, show public transit lines, display traffic, locate friends and more – all on the same screen! Don’t want all the layers displayed at once? Simple, just tap the right soft key and click “layers” to choose which layers you want or don’t want displayed together. The search feature has also been improved by providing more results, displaying them as little red dots.
Upgrade to version 3.2 with your mobile browser to start enjoying the new features!
Microsoft Recite Now with Touch Support
Back in February, Brandon did a video walk-through of a nifty voice note app called Recite. Microsoft recently released an update for the app, which finally offers touch screen support. Now, you can easily flick through all the notes, control and delete them.
If you’ve never heard of it and like taking quick notes with your mobile device, you’re in for a treat. Recite is an innovative app that allows you to store and remember mental notes, all by voice recognition. It’s free, so try it out and let us know your experiences with it.

Sync, Send/Receive All Email Accounts in One Click
Are you tired of opening your messaging window, clicking menu and then send/receive for each Email account on your device? Well, SendReceiveAll is a simple program that will do all the work for you by synchronizing all Email accounts in one click.
To install, simply unzip the file and place it somewhere on your device. To run it is even simpler: just click the SendReceiveAll icon, which will open your messages and start retrieving Emails. For added convenience, you might want to add the link to your Windows/StartMenu folder. That way you can access the launcher from your Start Menu.
Note: you will need .NET CF 3.5 installed to run this app

Use your G-Sensor to Shoot, Whip, Punch and Lightsaber
This fun app, called Shoot Me, enables you to use your Windows Mobile device as a virtual weapon. It uses the G-Sensor (accelerometer) or touch screen to emit sounds of whichever weapon you’ve selected. Weapons in the free version include: a shotgun, Uzi, boxing glove, lightsaber, whip and electric hair clipper.
I’m not going to lie… a part of me has always wanted one of those full sized, motion sensing lightsabers, at least to play with for a day. Now I can do that and more for free! I can also see myself using this app to virtually punch my friends after a few drinks. Would using the whip sound be too much to signal to my best friend that he’s a little too attached to his new girlfriend? Just kidding, of course! Start role playing as Indiana Jones, the Terminator, Rocky or Luke Skywalker by installing ShootMe!
Notes:
- you will need .NET CF 3.5 before installing the app
- the paid version adds extra weapons for your enjoyment
Free Guitar Hero Clone for Windows Mobile!
Touch The Music is a project in early development on the XDA forums, but it aims to bring Guitar Hero-like joy to our Mobile devices. Although you’re only able to play the intro of one song right now, Sweet Child O’Mine by Guns N’ Roses, it looks slick and it's fairly quick too. The interesting feature to note here is that it supports “multi-touch” points, which is refreshing to see as a Windows Mobile user and as a console GH player. I wonder if the next release will include “Star Power?”
Playing the game is simple: you can either tap the on-screen fret buttons or use directional buttons on your device. The end key quits the game. To start rocking out, download Touch The Music and install it just like any other .cab file.
Note: the developer is currently looking for a graphic designer and sound fx expert to help with the project, so be sure to contact him, if you’re interested

A Free Digital Message Scroller for Windows Mobile
The LED Lattice emulator is a versatile tool, which could be useful in several instances. It allows you to customize the font size, color and speed of a scrolling digital message. Another excellent feature is the ability to convert images to the same digital format.
Perhaps, you work in sales and could use it to advertise a piece of merchandise. Maybe you need a silent means to communicate with a friend across a quiet room. However, you wouldn’t be alone if you simply want it for the fun factor. Recently, I used it on the way to Vegas to send a message to a friend on the opposite side of the plane. It displayed a message that said, “Always double down on 11.” Anyone recognize that popular movie quote?
You can thank the good folks at XDA-developers once again for this innovative app. To install, unzip the files to a folder on your device and run LEDEmuPPC.exe.
Free Stocks Tracking Application
If you want a simple, easy to use stocks application with a clean user interface, then you're in luck. The folks at XDA-Developers have developed a cool program to let you track your investment portfolio in a little program called Ticker Tape. The program does require .NET CF 3.5. The application is great--you can do a bit of technical analysis and compare the stock against the major indices on the chart function at the bottom.
