The Cheapest Way to Get an HD2

If you're looking for the cheapest way to grab an HD2, we may have found it. We should preface this by saying that the version due to be released next week is the European version. While it'll work on T-Mobile and AT&T in the US, you'll only be able to get EDGE data speeds. If you want 3G, you'll have to wait until early 2010 when the HD2 is released in the US, probably on T-Mobile.

After poking around on eBay, eXpansys, Google Shopping, PriceGrabber and others, we've found the lowest price for the HD2. It can be found on Clove, where the device is selling for about £439. With shipping to the US (and no VAT), that comes out to about £457, or $760. Yes, this is still extremely expensive for a mobile device, but as the device sees a release on various carriers and as the months go by, prices will indeed go down.

HTC HD2 Shows up on eBay

If you've got $999 to part with, you can have yourself an HTC HD2 a little bit early on eBay. If you've got a bit more patience and can wait until 11 November, you can preorder one from Clove for about $720.

Update: As Fabrizio points out, the listing mentions that the seller will ship out device in the second week of November, which brings us to the same week that the other online retailers expect to ship.

AT&T Tilt 2 Non-Camera Released

Over at the AT&T Premier website, they're now showing the Tilt 2 without a camera. Devices shown on the Premier website are intended for businesses, government agencies, and schools, and often carry discounts and packages that are not available to consumers.

HTC HD2 on Amazon UK

It looks like Amazon has posted a preorder page for the HD2 in the UK. The price is £549.99 (which comes to around $900 USD) with a availability of 20 November. This is the unlocked version that will not do US 3G.

Anyone placing their order? =D

Thanks for the tip, Jeff S.

AT&T HTC Pure Going for $0.01

Online retailer Amazon is offering the hot Windows Mobile 6.5 AT&T HTC Pure for $0.01 on contract. The HTC Pure is essentially a Diamond2 variant that is available on AT&T with compatible 3G bands to tap into the carrier's high speed data network.

Several days prior to the launch of Windows Mobile 6.5, AT&T had jumped the gun and offered the Pure on sale for $150, a low price for a touchscreen Windows Mobile smartphone. Amazon's $0.01 pricing goes even lower after a short week of the device being on sale.

Acer F1 (S200) Shows up on eBay

October is going to be a very busy month for us in Windows Mobile land. With the official release of 6.5 and the Marketplace, there are going to many many new hardware releases from HTC, Samsung, and Acer.

Acer's first device out of the gate is the Snapdragon-packing F1 (S200), and it is being shown on eBay now with a price of $600. The F1, which is running Windows Mobile 6.5, has a large 3.8" WVGA display (that's the same size and resolution as the Touch HD), with 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, WiFi, and that delicious 1GHz CPU.

The phone is being sold unlocked and has one of the 3G bands that will allow it to work on AT&T 3G in some areas (UMTS 1900).

XPERIA X2 Release Date

As we wait for the first wave of Windows Mobile 6.5 devices to ship in October, it looks like we'll be waiting quite a few months past that for the sweet XPERIA X2 to land.

According to eXpansys, which is often quite accurate with release dates, the X2 will be shipping in early January (instead of Q4 as originally thought) at the knock-your-socks-off price of around £604.99, which comes out to about $1,005. Naturally, because only five people on the planet would pay that much for a mobile device, we expect that price to come down several notches before shipping. That, or it will become available at a subsidized price on one or more carriers around the world.

Verizon Omnia Now $49

With the Omnia II due to land on Verizon "soon" (we're thinking before mid October), it's no wonder that they've slashed the price of the original Omnia in half to now $49. Though the device is a bit dated, you can't argue with the price. Click on to Verizon for further details.

Zagg Invisible Shield: Protection for Your Gadget Plus Free Headphones

Zagg's Invisible Shield is like plastic wrap for your smartphone, made from the same thick military-grade helicopter blade protective film. The company makes films specifically designed for individual smartphone models, with quite a few to select from. While the films may seem expensive, they are backed by Zagg's lifetime replacement warranty, which will last you through the device's lifetime. For a limited time, if you spend $100 or more on Zagg, you'll get a free pair of headphones called ZAGGphones (valued at $100) or USB speakers (valued at $80).

The films are relatively easy to apply. There is a soapy spray that you apply to the film and the device, as well as a little squeegee for you to remove any air bubbles. Once on, the film offers great scratch protection, though don't expect to drop your smartphone and have it go unscathed.

To purchase the Invisible Shield, you can go through Zagg's website and follow the instructions there to get your free headphones or speakers.

Unlocked Toshiba TG01's Show up on eBay

The super slim Snapdragon-based Toshiba TG01 was first announced back at Mobile World Congress 2009 in February. It got a tremendous amount of attention because it was the first phone to sport the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon platform. That, coupled with a razor-thin form factor and huge 4.1" screen made the TG01 a true gem.

Half a year later, it launched on O2 in Germany, only to be taken off the shelves a few days after it was released because of reports of viruses found on some of the devices.

If you've been waiting for an unlocked version of the Windows Mobile super-phone to land like we have, wait no more. While phone retailers like eXpansys and Clove have the TG01 listed as "coming soon", you can now snag one on eBay, though for a premium price. There are several listed, the highest having a Buy it Now price of $1350. We expect the TG01 to be available for lower prices (relatively speaking) within the next couple of months through the aforementioned shops.
