“Quick Dr. Watson, the needle!” Where many might disagree with the use of the 2% solution that kept Sherlock Holmes’ mind moving at warp speed, we may soon find ourselves feeding ethanol to our Pocket PC’s to keep them running.
Fuel Cells, which use alcohol in a chemical reaction which creates water vapor and electricity, are more environmentally safe and deliver up to 10 times the power of their NiCd, NiMH, and LIon counterparts.
Motorolla has a two inch by 1/2 inch ceramic fuel cell that won’t be ready for a few years but Medis Technologies has one that could be ready by the end of 2002. Fuel Cells still have to be made both safe and less expensive.
