Back in the early years of the 21st century there was one mobile-designed website that actually let you purchase movie tickets with your credit card while your dinner date helped choose the movie and time. I did this plenty of times on my old iPAQ H3600 and GSM/GPRS Sleeve. However, Moviefone soon removed the ability to purchase tickets on it’s site and I was forced to either deal with a desktop-designed version on the small screen or purchase tickets at the on-site kiosks.
Well, finally those days of purchasing movie tickets on the go are back! Fandango now has a mobile-designed website where you can buy movie tickets for certain theaters. MovieTickets.com’s site also reformats itself pretty well for use on a Windows Mobile device, while they also offer a WAP site for use on mobile phones. The MovieTickets.com also lets you log-in to use your stored credit card and display your favorite theaters thus making purchasing tickets very easy. Usually if a theater doesn’t sell movie tickets at MovieTickets.com, they’ll sell them at Fandango or not at all.
One problem with these new ticket purchasing sites is that unlike Moviefone’s mobile site (in the past), they do charge a service fee on top of the normal ticket price.
