Automatic Update from HTC For Connection Setup

Seems like the long awaited automatic update concept through which manufacturers and/or providers can push updates to your device works after all. While connecting my HTC Touch HD (Blackstone) to the Internet today, I received a notification message about the availability of a new Database for the HTC Connection Setup (the small application responsible for detecting your carrier and automatically configuring your device for its use). The notification also warns about costs of data connection – in case you are not using a WiFi to connect to the Internet.

Complete download took about 10 minutes for me to complete using WiFi and after successful update, device automatically restarted. Basically it replaced HTC Connection Setup’s Database from initial stock version of DB15.070 to DB25.BlackStone_WDS100208, which, as we can see, is a special Database update for the Blackstone.
